Following the success of Lake Onoke Riperian planting in 2012, we have gained further support from both South Wairarapa District Council (SWDC) and the Conservation Growth Fund administered by Department of Conservation (DOC).
Winter 2013 saw us extend the riperian planted area north to the camping ground and south around the weather station and within the existing fenced off area. We also replaced any tree losses with tree numbers totalling 1400 over two years. The funding  covered the pre plant spray, plant purchase and tree surround protection for all trees required with the community providing the labour.
Continued maintainance of the site will ensure a healthy growing future of this area.
We have now completed the lake margin adjacent to the council owned reserve, protecting the edge of the lake and its inhabitants, and creating a very integrated look.
This is now an area we can all be proud of.
